Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 25, 2026
Innervu (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates the website innervu.com and a WhatsApp-based onboarding experience that connects Zimbabwean students with companies seeking interns, attaches, and graduates. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over your data.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy covers three groups of users:
- Students who create profiles on Innervu (via WhatsApp or the website) to be discovered by employers.
- Employers who register companies on Innervu to post jobs and search for candidates.
- Marketers who refer students to Innervu in exchange for a referral fee.
2. Information we collect
From students
- Identity: full name, date of birth, gender, profile photo, phone number, email, city.
- Education: university, degree, major, year of study, expected graduation date, GPA or classification.
- Experience: bio, skills, languages, prior internships / employment, projects.
- Preferences: types of roles, industries, locations, salary expectations, availability.
- Documents you choose to upload: transcripts, CVs/resumes, internship letters, cover letters, other supporting documents.
- WhatsApp metadata when you message us: WhatsApp ID, message contents, media you send.
From employers
- Company name, contact name, business email, business phone, website, industry.
- Job posting content and any payment records (handled by EcoCash).
From marketers
- Name, contact details, EcoCash number (used only to pay you referral fees), and your referral activity within the platform.
Automatically
- Device and access logs (IP address, browser/user-agent, timestamps) for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Audit logs that record when employers view student documents, to enforce our no-redistribution policy.
3. How we use your information
- To build your Innervu profile and make it discoverable to verified employers.
- To deliver interview offers and scheduling details to students via WhatsApp and the web portal.
- To process payments for employer job postings and marketer payouts (via EcoCash).
- To send service-related notifications and platform announcements.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- To improve Innervu — for example, by using Google’s Gemini AI to extract skill tags from the free-text “about you” field on your profile.
4. How we share your information
We share data only as described below.
- With employers who have paid for an active job posting that matches your profile. They see profile fields and may view (but not download or print) documents you have uploaded. Every document view is logged with the viewing employer’s identity, IP, and timestamp.
- With your interviewer, after you accept an interview offer: your WhatsApp number is revealed to the employer so the two of you can coordinate directly.
- With service providers who help us run Innervu under strict confidentiality agreements: Google (Firebase, Gemini), Meta (WhatsApp Cloud API), and EcoCash (payments).
- Where required by law, including in response to lawful requests from Zimbabwean or other competent authorities.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
5. Storage, security and retention
Your data is stored on Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure, with encryption in transit and at rest. Documents are accessed only through short-lived, signed URLs minted by our backend; client devices cannot fetch them directly. Authentication uses Firebase Auth (Google sign-in or WhatsApp-verified phone number). We keep your data while your Innervu profile is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal and audit obligations; you can ask us to delete it sooner (see Your Rights below).
6. WhatsApp messaging
We use the WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta’s Cloud API) to send and receive messages. By messaging the Innervu WhatsApp account or by giving us your WhatsApp number, you agree that Meta will process your message metadata as described in Meta’s own privacy policy, and that Innervu will store the conversation contents and any media you send for the purposes described above. You can stop receiving messages from us at any time by replying STOP.
7. Your rights
You may at any time:
- Sign in at innervu.com to view, edit, or delete your profile and documents.
- Ask us to export a copy of your personal data.
- Ask us to delete your account and associated data.
- Withdraw a previously given consent (for example by removing a document).
Email us at privacy@innervu.com to exercise any of these rights. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Innervu is intended for users aged 18 and over (or 16+ with verifiable parental consent, where local law permits). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age. If you believe a minor has signed up, please contact us so we can remove the account.
9. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced to active users via WhatsApp or email.
